This is a special year for us as Winnipeg (St. John Brebeuf) Council #1107 is celebrating its 100th Anniversary. It is from Council #1107 that the Knights of Columbus spread into Saskatchewan. From there, the Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta Territorial District was established. It received its charter on April 28, 1906 and was attested by the Worthy Supreme Knight, Edward L. Hearn:
It was a glorious day, April 28th, 1906 when the Order of the Knights of Columbus made its first organized appearance at the "Gateway to West" - St. Paul Minnesota Council's superb Degree Team initiated eighty five candidates and the parent Council in Manitoba, Winnipeg Council commenced its long record of service to Mother Church, Country and Community.
For the past year, Brother Knights from Winnipeg (St. John Brebeuf) Council #1107 have been working diligently so as to prepare a celebration worthy of this milestone.
The centennial will be celebrated with a banquet on Saturday, September 30th, 2006 at the Caboto Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba
